There aren't enough hours in a day.

My parents came out over the weekend to help us.  All I can say is TOTAL DESTRUCTION!  There haven't been enough hours in our days to get everything done that we wanted to.  That is not to say that we have been unproductive.  Friday I was still feeling ill, which was ok because I had taken the day off from work to have the floors refinished.  Mr. Sandless showed up at 9:30am and were done by 3pm.  They did an awesome job and our floors look great.  The house also smelled like citrus when they left, an added bonus.  While they were working, I sanded, primed and painted the chair rail for the dining room.

Mike came home early from work due to his late night the previous evening and scrubbed and cleaned half of the basement.  This was no easy task with the amount of dirt, dust and cat crap on the floor.  I wasn't feeling great by the time the floor guys left...so, I took a nap.

It was a pretty epic nap...like three hours, on the floor in a sleeping bag.  I guess when you're running a fever, any place you can sleep is nice.  Once I finally woke up, Mike and I had to go to Lowes to finalize our carpeting order and pick out the wood transition strips.  We also picked up a new shower head, new toilet seats and some knobs for our hall linen closet.  Lowes is quickly becoming our favorite store, mostly out of necessity. Me, napping.  Notice my hammer to ward off pesky boyfriends. :)

On Saturday, my parents arrived in the morning to deliver our furniture, mattresses and other various items that we needed that they had extras of.  They also brought Callie!  She was really excited about being at the house.  After unloading all of our stuff off of the trailer, my dad, Mike and Mike's brother Brian went to a gun show and my mom and I went shopping.  We got our fun activities out of the way early.  Once we all met up again, we grabbed a late lunch and stopped into the appliance store to pick up our fridge and dishwasher.  My parents were feeling generous and bought us a new stove as well.  We finally got back to the house and started doing some work.  Mom and I painted the stairs and hallway, finished the second coat on the linen closet and got the first coat of paint on the trim in our bedroom.  Mike and my dad worked on wiring 220 for our washer dryer unit and then started on some other wiring projects.  On Sunday we started early and Mike and my dad worked on tearing out the pantry to expand the kitchen and finish the wiring for the tv and fridge.  In the process we ran into some complications, of course.  They had to rewire and move the light switch for the kitchen and discovered that there was a lot of wire mesh in the walls to support the plaster.  This slowed them down quite a bit and they didn't finish until Monday afternoon.  My mom and I put a second coat on the stairs and hall and finished trimming the bedroom.  We also worked on scraping the peeling paint from the dining room and smoothing the areas with drywall compound.  We also moved the sectional sofa Mike's mom gave us from her basement to our living room.  This was no easy task as the thing is huge and heavy.  It has a full size pull out bed on one end and a recliner on the other.  We also got our bed set up in our room and we spent our very first night in our house!  Sleep was much needed on Sunday night as I was still feeling sick and we were all exhausted.  I had a meltdown while cleaning the door to our bedroom.  I have never seen so much filth on a door, after an entire roll of paper towels and an hour of scrubbing, the door was finally clean.  We all slept well and woke up ready for the work on Monday.  It was another hectic day, but we got more done.  Monday night we got the rest of our bedroom furniture in and cleaned up around the house.  It's crazy how much we have gotten done in such a short amount of time.
