Progress during the week is SLOOOOOOOW
Our progress during the week has been slow. By the time we get home from work, we don't have enough time to get much done, however we have gotten some small stuff done. The furniture for our bedroom got cleaned and polished, Mike and Kevin cleaned the basement some more, I insulated around the pipe in the living room, Laurie and I stripped the wall paper out of the bathroom and took down the mirror and I started getting some bathroom things unpacked. Mike and Kevin had the misfortune of discovering a nest of house centipedes in the basement. It was quite amusing for me to hear them screaming like girls in the basement and the sounds of 2x4's smashing into the floors. Their crys of "OMG get the big daddy" and "I wish these were spiders" were pretty funny, but in reality I'm just glad I wasn't down there. Those things are nasty.
I broke the medicine cabinet to get it off the wall. The old owners installed a plug over the cabinet, so i had to shut off the power to completely take it off the wall.
We found these holes behind the medicine cabinet. Laurie and I were really hoping we wouldn't find a dead cat or something behind the cabinet. Thankfully, we didn't!
Mike's mom Laurie stripping the ivy wallpaper. The yellow paint underneath is better than the wallpaper. The paint on these walls is peeling like the dining room, so they'll need to be scraped down and smoothed with drywall compound.
It's gross. I know I've said it before, but how do you let a door get this dirty?
This is the bathroom door. It took me an hour and a half to clean it and two buckets of water and Murphy's Oil Soap. It's only half clean, you can see the line of dirt on the top half.
We're slowly starting to get settled and have a long list of projects to do this weekend!
